It's Friday...
Sasha had some documents that needed to get taken care of first thing this morning, so we were able to sleep in a little compared to the last couple of days. One of which was to file a Petition for Adoption (I think that is what he called it) in the Court. This will help expedite the process once we get the SDA approval next week. He came and picked us up around 11:00 am and we went to go visit Vanya.
We met him at his room and took him to one of the play rooms there in the Camp they have let us occupy the past few days. He went straight over to the bowls, pitchers and spoons with the beans. He really likes pouring the beans from one item into the other. He is really noticing us when we walk up and he wants me to hold him while he gives Rachelle a "High Five". This is something that is opposite for us when we are home with his brother. So I guess Rachelle will have Andrew in-tow and I will have Vanya; or perhaps it will be vice-versa.
We have noticed that if we keep the visits between 30 and 45 minutes that works for his schedule and also works for the errands that we need to get done during that day. He is really wanting us to hold him more and more, knowing that we will. Rachelle's theory is that he wants to be babied and he has probably missed out on some of that, so we will baby him cause he definitely needs to have that security that he may never have had. When it was time for us to leave, he did not want the lady from the camp taking him away from me. It was a little difficult to see him getting upset that we were leaving, but it was nice to know that we have bonded enough that he wants to go with us.
Sasha, Rachelle and I loaded up in the car and drove on into Luts'k to get some lunch. We went back to the restaurant we ate at yesterday, GOOD FOOD! The weather today was absolutely AWESOME!!! Bright sunshine, steady breeze and a high around 78 degrees. Sasha had to be back to pick up the Inspector around 2:00 pm to finish up a document that the Administrator needed to sign for the SDA back in Kiev. Sasha told us that once he picks up the Inspector that they will go out in the fields where she is harvesting potatoes and she will wash off her hands and sign the documents and then they will bring them back. He explained that in many other cases we would be waiting until Monday for this to happen.
I feel that it just proves that God keeps preparing our path and he is giving us Favor in ALL of those whom are in this process!!! Prior to us leaving Oklahoma to come on this journey, our couples small group, leaders prayer meeting @ Victory Edmond and then a group prayer after the Wednesday night Experience; one thing that kept being prayed over and over was asking God to provide us his Favor in All that we come into contact with and that He will prepare our path and our steps. I am confident that He has and that He will continue to do so!!!
Knowing that we were going to be leaving this area and headed back to Kiev early in the morning, we started getting our bags ready so it will be easy to pack things up in the morning.
Sasha called me around 4:00 pm and everything had been signed. We decided that we would wait until 5:30 pm to go see Vanya for the last time this trip. We met him outside and off we went to the Camp. As we walked in, the kids were playing outside, including Vanya. We stayed back and watched how he interacted with the other kids and to see what he was capable of going up the steps and down the slides without any help. Once the Camp personnel noticed that we were watching she called for Vanya and said there is Mom and Tato (Dad). He ran around the play set wanting me to find him. So after a brief "Hide-n-Seek" he came running up to me with his arms up! We walked around the slides and I sat him down on them and he slid down them. He would sit at the bottom of the slide and then try to walk back up. Then he decided that he wanted me to carry him up the stairs, instead of him walking up the stairs that he was able to navigate earlier when we "Weren't there".
He would slide down and then he would wait for me or Rachelle to pick him up. Funny playing his little game, and he would even pout by putting his head down, holding his hands and burying his face down on his hands, all of while peaking out the side to make sure we were watching. Then as I would walk away to see what he would do, he would run to get in front of me to throw his hands up.
After about 20 minutes a couple of boys came back over to play on the play set. When they showed up his ability to go up the step by himself changed and off he went. He does a really great job hanging on to the handrails while going up the steps. Rachelle went up the steps and actually slide down the slide after he did. He thought that was so funny and just laughed. Towards the end of our visit, he decided to go grab some dirt and throw the dirt on to the bottom of the slide. Then he would wipe it off the slide and would laugh while he did it. There are so many things that he does that Andrew does or has done. They are going to get along SO WELL, what are Rachelle and I going to do? Lol!
Again, we hugged him and told him that we will be back to see him in a few days, not sure if he understood or not. As we were trying to leave, he got upset once again that we were leaving and he wasn't coming with us. It was good for us to see him play outside, as well for us to get an idea how he navigates steps, slides and how he plays with others. Was a really good visit.
Sasha, Rachelle and I loaded up in the car and headed back to the Hotel. We went to the downstairs restaurant just to sit down have a drink and relax from the day. None of us were hungry from lunch. I told Sasha how thankful we were for all that he has done on our behalf and as well as all of the additional running around to get things done as quick as possible. I could tell that it meant a lot for me saying that. He then thanked us for doing what we are doing and that he is really pleased to see how well Vanya has bonded with us just in the past few days.
Now on to the room to get some sleep. Alarm goes off at 5:00 am for 6:00 am departure back to Kiev in the morning.
A week ago today our Journey began to come to Kiev, Ukraine. What a ride this past week has been! Ready to load him up and get back home! Patience, Patience, Patience...
